Work Back Program

The Work Back Program is a Board-approved program consisting of up to five (5) components and a contractual agreement with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the parent, and the student.

A.) A Office of School Leadership and Performance/Division of Educational Opportunity and Access Representative will meet with the parent(s)/guardian(s), a representative from the alternative school, and the student who has been recommended for expulsion to work out a plan
for the student to follow in lieu of expulsion.

B.) The parent(s)/guardian(s) and the student must sign the contractual agreement, which consists of academic, counseling, behavioral, community service, and, where applicable, employability components. Students being recommended for expulsion for drug involvement will be provided with a list of agencies that address substance issues.

C.) The Work Back Program in Lieu of Expulsion becomes effective the day the agreement is signed, and the student attends the educational assignment.

D.) When the student completes the contractual agreement, the representative from the alternative school will certify the completion and recommend the student to return to a traditional school program
